If the Sensations Aren't THE SAME
or who needs those condoms of yours anyway...
Do you know the three biggest myths humanity has?
- 1. Nerve cells do not regenerate.
- 2. Humans descended from monkeys.
- 3. Sex with a condom does not give the same sensual physical sensations as sex without one.
May we ask: what exactly are the “wrong” sensations? Does protected sex make you feel like you're chopping wood instead of making love? Or does a table of logarithms pop into your head and suddenly romance is the last thing on your mind?
Supporters of skin-to-skin sex often cannot clearly explain why protected intercourse is supposedly worse.
Yet the myth lives on and is passed from generation to generation despite having no objective arguments in its favor.
Still, we decided to look into cases where people who prefer unprotected sex really did have a bad experience and then joined the “anti-latex” camp.
We found THREE reasons why SEX with a condom may feel less enjoyable than sex without one:
- 1. The wrong condom size.
- 2. The wrong material.
- 3. A cheap mass-market “product No. 2.”
Let's talk about size. This is perhaps one of the few situations in sex where size really matters. A condom that doesn't fit can slip off or tear at the worst possible moment. This applies to condoms that are too large as well as too small. It can also squeeze the penis and cause discomfort, making a man genuinely feel that “something is in the way.”
How do you choose the right condom size?
Focus on the girth of the penis rather than its length. A condom will unroll as far as necessary, but you can get the diameter wrong. If you don't want to make a mistake, ask the Danni consultants for advice.
Now the material. If you're using a condom made from sheep intestine (don't laugh – that is where the history of contraception once began!), then yes, the sensations may indeed be DIFFERENT. But most modern condoms do not “steal” nearly that much sensation from intimacy.
Another case: you firmly believe instructions are for fools, ignore the label and – oops! – miss the fact that the condom lubricant contains something that causes you discomfort, such as an allergic reaction. In five minutes you can easily become a member of the “love without rubber” club. Pay attention – both to yourself and to what you buy.
And now about mass-market condoms. Their easy availability is, of course, convenient. Even in the hottest situation you can run into almost any 24-hour store and, in 99.9% of cases, buy condoms for almost any taste – literally and figuratively.
However, remember the familiar saying: “cheap fish makes a pretty poor soup”?
That's why we recommend buying condoms in sex shops, or at least in a pharmacy:
- you can be more confident that proper storage conditions have been observed (and the quality and reliability of the product depend on this),
- the choice is huge: sizes, flavors, colors, shapes, additional features and materials – in a sex shop you are much more likely to find exactly what you need,
- you can get competent advice on ANY question that concerns you. From “how do I put it on correctly?” to “will this condom suit us if I'm an Aries and my girlfriend is a Scorpio?” (at least from the Danni consultants).
And if you're still unsure, let's compare sex with and without a condom.
Sex with a condom can make it easier to relax. Neither HE nor SHE is worrying, “will I/he pull out in time?!” Without contraception, you have to keep at least a little attention on that concern – unless both of you are planning to have a baby.
Sex with a condom is safer. Yes, it is. If you don't have medical test results confirming that your partner is healthy, it's better to use protection. Condoms significantly reduce the risk of many sexually transmitted infections. Without one, sex can feel like a game of Russian roulette. We may trust our partner, but we cannot know everything about their previous partners.
Sex without a condom feels more... natural, perhaps. That's hard to argue with. Latex certainly wasn't invented by Mother Nature. But if you want sensations as close to “natural” as possible, choose ultra-thin condoms. Contrary to common myths, quality ultra-thin condoms are designed to provide reliable protection when used correctly.
Some condoms can help prolong intercourse. Seriously: condoms with a prolonging effect contain lubricant with an anesthetic. We probably don't need to explain HOW and WHY that can matter. If you don't use one, you have to rely only on yourself!
By choosing ribbed condoms, condoms with textured elements and other bonus features, you may increase a woman's pleasure. Many women report pleasant and unusual sensations when a partner uses this type of contraception. Don't use them – see the point above.
Sex without a condom is cheaper. That's hard to dispute. Good contraception costs money. And yet... diapers, rattles... or doctor visits can cost much more. So perhaps the question should be framed differently: it isn't just an expense, it's an investment.
The choice, of course, is yours.
But at the very least, it's worth trying.
A great selection is waiting for you – take a chance.
